Point to Point

Abraham Lincoln, in a letter explaining his approach to Civil War Reconstruction, outlined this policy:

"The pilots on our Western rivers steer from point to point as they call it--setting the course of the boat no farther than they can see; and that is all I propose to myself in this great problem."

I am trying to view the creation and continuing evolution of S.A.L.T. using that analogy..I don't want to waste precious energy on navigating the entire course; it would create needless worry and anxiety--I want to spend my time problem-solving the next bend or point in the river. I want to feel stronger and more capable to handle greater obstacles that may arise. I want to direct this great idea through the wild course of life! So I need to go slowly and with determination...from point to point.
